JJ's Arts Academy was set up in September 2006 and has gone from strength to strength.

The ethos of JJ’s Arts Academy CIC is to make learning the creative arts accessible to everyone in Devon. Whether you are a complete beginner, whether you aspire to be a performer, whether you need support accessing qualifications through to degree level, whether you want to become a teacher of music, whether you want to join a social group and explore music whilst making friends, JJ’s Arts Academy CIC will help you achieve those goals.

In order to follow our own aspirations as a business, we became a Community Interest Company so that we could collaborate with everyone in our community and access funding to help those for whom education was not affordable.

JJ’s Arts Academy CIC has two centres in Devon: Newton Abbot and Exeter. Both are thriving Yamaha Music Schools and follow the pedagogy of the Yamaha method. Whether being taught in small groups or 1:1, the materials and teaching methods cater for all preferred learning styles, all musical genres and ages. Currently offering Yamaha piano, keyboard, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, flute, violin, alto saxophone and Music Parade, JJ’s Arts Academy CIC offers a free trial lesson in all courses.

JJ's Arts Academy CIC has examiner visits from a variety of examining bodies ensuring that our students can take their exams in familiar surroundings and have the full support of their teachers.

JJ’s Arts Academy CIC also offers specialised Musical Theatre and Contemporary Commercial Music tuition and has an excellent reputation for supporting singers through the audition process for drama school.

If full time tuition at a Higher Education level is not right for you, Level 4 and Level 6 qualifications are available at JJ’s Arts Academy CIC with 1:1 tuition guiding students through Teaching or Performing degrees.

With additional projects available at JJ’s Arts Academy CIC e.g. Rockband, Sing Out Loud (gospel influenced singing group), music theory classes, there really is something for everyone.

For many, this will be the start of your musical journey. This can be a short sight seeing tour or a path that lasts a lifetime and brings many opportunities your way – like it has for me.

Whether you are starting as a child or later in life, beginner or advanced musician, JJ’s Arts Academy CIC will provide a professional, creative and enjoyable service with dedicated teaching and administrative staff throughout your journey so contact us today for your free no-obligation lesson and meet our fantastic team.
